The change usually shows up at home.
Listening
Multi-step directions, eye contact, slowing down before reacting. Three months in, parents notice it first at the dinner table.
Respect
For instructors, partners, and adults at home. Same standards every class, every adult on the mat.
Composure
Jiu-Jitsu teaches kids how to stay calm when they are tired, pressed, or losing. That skill travels off the mat.
What Students and Parents Say
Reviews from families who have trained with us in Wichita Falls. The longest answers come from the families who have been on the mat the longest.
Questions about starting kids in martial arts.
How young can a child start?
Cubs Jiu-Jitsu starts at age 4. Tuesdays we run Gi, Thursdays we run No-Gi. Thirty-minute classes built specifically for ages 4 to 6.
What is the difference between Gi and No-Gi for kids?
Gi class wears a traditional uniform with grips and a belt. No-Gi class wears shorts and a rashguard. The skill set is the same. Some kids prefer one, some come to both.
My kid is shy. Will this work?
Yes. Shy is the most common starting point in our youngest classes. Instructors keep first-day expectations small on purpose. Confidence builds from there. Parents see the change at home before they see it on the mat.
Are kids sparring in class?
Not on day one and not without instructor approval. Sparring and live rolling are introduced progressively after the technique is solid and the cohort is ready.
